At SugarHouse Sportsbook, you’ll have numerous sports to bet on and various ways to bet on them. We’ll discuss these methods below, including the sports and betting markets available.
Point spreads: The point spread is a handicap used by SugarHouse Sportsbook to make games as even as possible while accounting for the strengths and weaknesses of each team.
For example, if a team is -5 on the point spread, SugarHouse Sportsbook has determined that the team is five points better than the other team.
As a bettor, you’ll wager on whether or not you think a team that’s -5 will win the game outright and do so by more than five points.
Conversely, if you bet on the other team that’s +5, you’ll be betting on whether that team will win outright or lose by no more than four points to cover.
Moneylines: The moneyline is a straightforward bet—you simply pick who you think will win the game. Each team receives odds based on this alone.
Over/under: Also known as total wagers, you’ll be betting on the combined number of points scored in a game. Each game will receive a point total line, and you’ll wager on whether or not it’ll exceed or fall short of it.
Futures: When betting on futures, you’ll wager on events like championships, postseason appearances, individual awards, and other events typically resolved at the end of the sports' respective season.
Prop bets: There are three prop bets—game, team, and player. The most popular prop bet is player props. Props are bets that you make on small events that happen within the game. For example, betting on Aaron Rodgers’ total passing yards.
NBA
At SugarHouse Sportsbook, you can bet on the NBA in various ways, including all of the methods mentioned above. The league features an 82-game season, followed by a 20-team playoff. The most popular futures wagers include betting on the NBA Finals Champion, MVP, and which teams will make the postseason. There are some of the best NBA betting sites.
NCAA Basketball
NCAA Basketball is one of the most exciting sports to wager on. In addition to 30+ regular season games, the season ends with a 68-seed NCAA Tournament known as March Madness; you’ll be able to bet on the winner of this tournament, which teams make it to the Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, Final Four, and the team that wins each of the four regions. This futures betting market makes it one of the top NCAA basketball betting sites.
MLB
Baseball is a long and arduous season starting in February with Spring Training and ending in November with the World Series. You’ll have 162 regular season games to wager on and the postseason. Some future bets include the MVP, Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, and more at one of our favorite MLB betting sites.
NCAA Football
With college football, you’re betting on the NFL stars of tomorrow. There are just over a dozen total games, including the regular season, bowl games, and the College Football Playoff if a team makes it. There are more than 40 bowl games to bet on. You’ll also be able to wager on NFL Draft props, predicting which players are drafted, including where they end up and what round/pick.
NFL
The NFL is the most wagered-on sport in all of sports betting. In addition to a wide array of prop bets that you can make across the 17-week regular season and (potentially) four rounds of postseason play, you can bet on the Super Bowl winner, division winners, conference winners, MVP winner, and more.
NHL
Hockey may not be wagered on as often as other popular US sports, but you can bet on the sport in multiple ways. Instead of a point spread, you’ll bet on the puck line, which is like a point spread but is also 1.5 goals, regardless of the matchup. You’ll also be able to wager on the Stanley Cup Final, division, conference winners, and multiple individual award winners, and much more. Like the NBA, the NHL also plays an 82-game season with 16-team playoffs for the coveted Stanley Cup.
There are many other sports you can wager on at SugarHouse Sportsbook, but those mentioned above are the most popular. Other popular sports include MMA (UFC and Bellator), Golf (PGA and LIV), and international sports such as soccer, cricket, rugby, and tennis.
