Vikings vs Eagles

Minnesota Vikings Official LogoPhiladelphia Eagles Official LogoThings did not go well for the Vikings in Week 1 as they lost to Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers at home. While Kirk Cousins threw for 344 yards, he was far from great. Cousins threw one interception and lost two fumbles at the worst times. That is going to be a big problem against an elite Eagles defense, and it will lead to a lopsided loss for the Vikings.

The Eagles were able to hold off the Patriots to win by five last weekend. They had some struggles on both sides of the ball and didn’t look anywhere near to the NFC Champions that they were last season. While we wish they looked better, we think they will be in store for a big bounce back this weekend. They still have one of the best rosters in the NFL and should have no problem holding off a Vikings team that seems destined to lose a lot of games.

Ravens vs Bengals

Baltimore Ravens Official LogoCincinnati Bengals Official LogoThe Ravens had one of the best games of the NFL’s opening weekend. The demolished a bad Texans team 25-9 as they reminded the league just how good they are. Lamar Jackson was far from great in his first start back after being injured during the 2022 season, but he did complete 17 of his 22 pass attempts. While the loss of JK Dobbins hurts, they still have the weapons to beat anyone.

Conversely, the Bengals had one of the worst games of the opening weekend. They managed just three points against the Browns over the Sunday, as their pass attack was completely shut down. Joe Burrow finished with less than 90 passing yards, and Tee Higgins didn’t even register a catch. The Bengals won’t always be that bad, but Burrow’s lingering injury is certainly cause for concern.

Packers vs Falcons

Green Bay Packers Official LogoAtlanta Falcons Official LogoThe Green Bay Packers surpassed preseason expectations by walloping the Bears on the road last weekend. Jordan Love threw three touchdowns and looked very comfortable in his first year behind center. While Aaron Jones may not play this weekend, the Packers should get their top receiver back in Christian Watson. Combine that with an impressive Packers defense, and you can see why we love them to get another road win this weekend.

The Falcons handled the Panthers with ease to open the season, thanks to their running back duo of Tyler Allgeier and rookie Bijan Robinson. The backs combined for 131 yards and two touchdowns, helping the team to a 14-point win. However, quarterback Desmond Ridder did not look impressive. While his completion percentage was great, he only threw the ball 18 times. The Packers defense looks like a force in 2023, and that will be trouble for Atlanta on Sunday.

Seahawks vs Lions

Seattle Seahawks Official LogoDetroit Lions Official LogoSeattle was punched in the face by the Rams in Week 1. They allowed them to score 30 points, while managing just 13 themselves. LA is expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, making us concerned about what the Seahawks will be in 2022. Geno Smith and the defense will need to improve, but we don’t think that is going to happen against the Lions this weekend.

The Lions started the season strong by beating the reigning Super Bowl champions on the road in the NFL’s opening game. While the Chiefs were without two of their best players, the Lions still impressed in front of a wild Arrowhead crowd. We like what we saw from this team, especially from their run game. Given Seattle’s play in Week 1, we think Detroit will be 2-0 after their Sunday matchup.

Bears at Buccaneers

Chicago Bears Official LogoTampa Bay Buccaneers Official LogoWe saw everything we needed to see from the Bears in Week 1. It is clear they continue to struggle to use Justin Fields effectively, and their offensive and defensive lines have major issues. They allowed a first-time starter to drive down the field for three touchdowns and were gashed by Aaron Jones on the ground. It is very hard to see them bouncing back in Tampa Bay, where rain is in the forecast and the humidity will be at an all-time high.

The Baker Mayfield-led Bucs looked good in their win in Minnesota last weekend. While Mayfield is far from a great quarterback, he did everything he needed to get the win. That is even more impressive considering the struggles from the Tampa backfield, who averaged just 2.2 yards per carry. Instead, they relied on safe passes and a defense that generated three turnovers. We expect a repeat performance at home this weekend.

Jets vs Cowboys

New York Jets Official LogoDallas Cowboys Official LogoThe Jets defense help secure a key Week 1 win against the Bills, despite Aaron Rodgers going down with an Achilles tear on his fourth snap. New York dominated Josh Allen and the Bills, finishing the game with three interceptions, five sacks, and one touchdown. It was good enough to catch the Bills off-guard at home, but their offense can no longer compete with teams like Dallas. Expect an ugly loss that leads the Jets to add another quarterback.

Nobody played better than Dallas in the league’s opening weekend. The shut out the Giants 40-0 in New York by dominating both sides of the ball. The first quarter saw them return an interception and a blocked kick for touchdowns, which quickly put this game out of reach for New York. The Dallas defense looks elite, and we know their offense is filled with playmakers. The Jets win last weekend was a great story, but it will not extend into Week 2.

Dolphins vs Patriots

Miami Dolphins Official LogoNew England Patriots Official LogoAs long as Tua can stay healthy, the Dolphins are going to win a LOT of games this season. They dominated a Chargers offense, led by Tyreek Hill who finished with 215 yards and two touchdowns. The Chargers had no answer for Hill, nor has anyone else in the league. While we like the Patriots defense, they don’t have the secondary or pass rush to shut the Tua-Tyreek connection down, and we are going to profit from that this weekend.

We like the Patriots a lot this season, especially after how Mac Jones and the defense both looked on Sunday. They had a chance to beat the Eagles at the end, a team that is expected to once again be one of the best in the league. However, the Pats will be 0-2 to begging the season after being torched by the Miami passing game this Sunday.

Browns vs Steelers

Cleveland Browns Official LogoPittsburgh Steelers Official LogoThe Browns shocked a lot of fans by beating the Bengals on Sunday, but we aren’t buying into them yet. They faced a Joe Burrow that was hobbled by injury, which showed in a big way during the game. Conversely, the Browns offense did not look great. The run game was solid, but Deshaun Watson is clearly not the same player that he once was. He looked bad, and he is going to look even worse with TJ Watt in the backfield with him on Monday night.

The Steelers were annihilated by the Niners on Sunday. It brought an end to their preseason hype, but we see them bouncing back against their rival on Monday. They may have the better offense, and their defense is still elite. TJ Watt had three sacks against a great Niners offensive line last week, and he should do so again against Watson and the Browns on Monday night.
