D.C. United vs Montreal CF Best Bet
D.C. United Draw No Bet (-129) | BetRivers
It’s been tough sledding for Montreal this season on the field and all around it, as their fans audibly booed their home side during a defeat in the Canadian Cup Championship recently. As they prepare to welcome D.C. United for a midweek match, it doesn’t appear that sledding will become smoother any time soon.
D.C. United hasn’t had much success recently either, but the quality of their opponents has far exceeded that of Montreal’s opposition. Outside of a disappointing 1-1 draw with Chicago last week, D.C. has played up to the competition. They’re 1-2-1 in their last four matches, losing to top team in the East, Inter Miami 1-0 over that span.
D.C.’s underlying metrics, however, tell a different story than its recent record. Troy Lesesne’s club own the fourth best away expected goals per game, and the second-best expected goals differential. Montreal, meanwhile, is fifth-worst in expected goals at home. The Red and Black have also dominated this head-to-head series, winning three of the last four meetings with a 3-0-1 record during that time.
Cincinnati FC vs Nashville SC Best Bet
Cincinnati FC -143 | BetRivers
Defending champions, Cincinnati FC picked up right where they left off last season. Miami owns a slim lead over them in first place as both teams own 10 victories this season. Cincy has won the majority of its games with strong defense and will likely try to find some attacking help via free agency in the offseason. Regardless, the champs still hold the fourth-best expected goal differential at home where they welcome Nashville this week.
Most Ohio sports betting sites see Chris Albright’s team as heavy favorites at home this week. They're the clear-cut best defensive side in the league when playing at home inside TQL Stadium. In seven home matches, the team’s defense has just 4.4 expected total goals against, easily the best number in the league among teams playing at home.
Nashville has looked dreadful on the road and has just two wins in 10 total matches. Both of the team’s wins came at home versus the struggling Canadian sides, Toronto and Montreal. They haven’t won a match in their last five games irrespective of location, going 0-2-3. They’ve been especially poor at home with just two goals scored while allowing 10. That’s led to the fifth-worst expected goal differential in the league.
New York Red Bulls vs Charlotte FC Best Bet
New York Red Bulls -167 | BetRivers
Let’s not be fooled by Charlotte’s recent successes. While the team hasn’t lost in five matches, we must look at the quality of its opponents before rushing to congratulate them. Sitting in seventh place, Charlotte hasn’t allowed a goal in five games, impressive no matter who they were playing. That said, four of those five games came at home and the one road victory was in Chicago against the bottom-feeding Chicago Fire.
It’s been a different story on the road where Dean Smith’s team has just one win in six matches. The squad’s losses have come at the hands of some questionable competition as well, losing to Toronto, Nashville, and New England, while drawing at Vancouver.
The Red Bulls will offer much tougher resistance in New York. They’ve recorded two clean sheets in their home building over their last four matches and are 3-2-0 at home overall. They’ve also dominated this series head-to-head, including a convincing 5-2 victory in last year’s playoffs. Let’s back the Red Bulls to continue surging upwards in the Eastern Conference standings with a key win this week.
