Highlights

  • William Contreras is batting .429 with runners in scoring position
  • Marcell Ozuna ranks 9th in average, 4th in HR, 2nd in RBI, and 3rd in OPS
  • Corey Seager has hit seven home runs over his last seven games

Both MVP races remain wide open after the first two months of the season. We have seen the Yankees and Dodgers dominate in each league, but there are ton of great players could take home the hardware this season.

Below, we’ll give you the three longshot bets we love heading into the summer. We’ll provide the latest odds from betting sites and insights for each player, giving you what you need to bet confidently on the MVP race this season.

William Contreras – C Milwaukee Brewers

His price isn’t as great as it was to begin the season, but we love William Contreras’s chances to win the 2024 NL MVP. He is currently fourth in the league in batting average (.324), fifth in RBIs (43), and twelfth in OPS (.910). The hot-hitting catcher broke out in Milwaukee last season and has gotten even better and is a big reason why the Brew Crew lead the NL Central.

We like Contreras due to his hitting in the clutch. The catcher has a .429 batting average across 56 at-bats with runners in scoring position. That ability has helped the Brewers win several games this season and is a big reason why they lead the division. The team’s lineup has been fantastic, ensuring Contreras will see plenty more opportunities to raise his already impressive RBI total.

Marcell Ozuna – OF Atlanta Braves

Odds to win NL MVP from BetMGM: +2000. Check out our full BetMGM Sportsbook review!

Marcell Ozuna is having one of the best seasons of his career. The 33-year-old ranks ninth in batting average (.309), fourth in home runs (16), second in RBIs 948), and third in OPS (1.003). The one missing piece for the former star has been his ability to hit for average, but he has done that so far in 2024. Given the team he plays for and the high ceiling we know he has, he is a fantastic bet given his current price.

We are on the fence with Ozuna as an MVP candidate, but then Ronald Acuna Jr.’s season was cut short by an ACL injury. The reigning MVP struggled this season but was still the most dangerous player the Braves had. With him gone, that title now falls to Ozuna. While the veteran can’t swipe bases like Acuna, he can put up eye-popping power numbers, which have been rewarded by MVP many times in the past.

Corey Seager – SS Texas Rangers

Odds to win AL MVP from Borgata: +3500. Check out our full Borgata Sportsbook Review!

Corey Seager had a brutal start to the season, but he is starting to heat up in a big way. He owns a .387 batting average, .644 slugging percentage, ten home runs, and 18 RBIs so far in May and is riding an 11-game hit streak. He has a whopping seven home runs during that span, showing just how well the superstar is seeing the ball.

We are locking in Seager now for a couple of reasons. The first is that the Rangers have been awful but are going to get a ton of stars back in the lineup over the next two months. If Seager’s hot bat can help them turn things around to win a weak AL West, it will make a very strong MVP case.

The other reason we love Seager is that he posted MVP numbers last season but only played in 119 games. We have seen that version of Seager emerge over the last few weeks, and we think it will lead to him finishing with even better numbers in 2024.
