Highlights

  • Corbin Burnes is 5-2 with a 2.35 ERA
  • Shota Imanaga lost his first game last week
  • Ranger Suarez leads the league in wins, ERA, and WHIP

The MLB calendar has already turned over to June, and both Cy Young races remain wide open. They feature a lot of familiar names, as well as some new faces who have broken out in 2024. That has led to a lot of favorable odds being offered from bookmakers, meaning now is the time to get your bets in.

Below, we will share the three pitchers our US Legal Sports Betting experts are betting on to take home the hardware. We’ll share the latest odds and insights, giving you what you need to wager confidently on betting apps.

Corbin Burnes – SP Baltimore Orioles

Orioles fans flocked to Maryland sportsbooks to bet on the team after they acquired Corbin Burnes, and he has not disappointed. The former Cy Young winner has not disappointed, going 5-2 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 72.2 innings. He has given a great Baltimore team the ace that it was missing, and the result has been one of the best records in baseball.

We love this bet at Betway’s current price. Those are incredibly favorable odds for one of the best pitchers in baseball, who is one of the best teams. While Tarik Skubal is a heavy favorite (deservingly so), Burnes has the advantage of playing for a team with a great lineup, leading to more wins than his Detroit counterpart.

Shota Imanaga – SP Chicago Cubs

While we don’t know how Shota Imanaga (5-1, 1.86 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) will hold up over a full MLB season, but he has been incredible so far. He is coming off his first bad start of the season, which came against a great Brewers offense. Imanaga allowed seven runs over 4.1 innings, raising his ERA above 1.00 for the first time in his rookie season.

While some believe the ugly showing against the Brewers is the first crack in the armor, we think it will do Imanaga good. He was cruising through the season without much adversity, but that came to an end in Milwaukee. While the 30-year-old is new to the MLB, he is far from your average rookie, thanks to his maturity and experience in Japan.

As long as Imanaga stays healthy, we expect him to take home the 2024 NL Cy Young.

Ranger Suarez – SP Philadelphia Phillies

This price is far too good to pass up on given how good Ranger Suarez (9-1, 1.70 ERA, 0.80 WHIP) has been. The 28-year-old is having the best season of his career and leads the league in wins, ERA, and WHIP. While we are closely monitoring the hand injury he picked up in his last start, but it seems Suarez will avoid a trip to the IL.

While it’s impossible for Suarez to maintain this level of play, his strong start puts him on a path to Cy Young-worthy numbers. That is especially true in the win category, as Suarez is almost halfway to 20 already. If he can finish with a 20+ win season and keep his ERA below 3.00, it will make him a lock to win the prestigious award.
