Roobet launched in 2019 as a division of Raw Entertainment B.V. Part of its goal is to be an innovator in gaming as it expands into the world of cryptocurrency amid the development of Web3.
Web3 is an update on the modern world wide web system that uses concepts such as blockchain technology, decentralization, token currency, and more. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrency are part of Web3.
Roobet’s resounding success as a Web3 platform comes despite it not operating in the American market—however, it would be in a stronger position to do so now that it has partnered with one of the most recognizable faces in the country.
Although Snoop did not confirm that as a plan, he said that exciting times are approaching.
“Roobet took amazing care of me even before they knew who I was, bringing the ultimate player experience, and I been sayin’ Roooooo ever since,” Snoop said. “We share the love of doing new things, and we care about our fans—so we’re gonna change the game and do it better than it’s ever been done.”
Online crypto gambling is not explicitly legal or illegal in the United States. Many states have laws in place regarding traditional online casinos and online gaming in general, however.
Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia all allow online casinos. All of these states also allow residents and visitors to place online sports bets through the use of legal sportsbooks, whether that be their web or mobile app platforms.
There are no mainstream casinos or sportsbooks that accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment in America. But again, platforms that do, such as Roobet, are not outlawed by the existing legal framework.
